Bruno Gutmann (1876 – 1966) was a German missionary among the Chagga of East Africa from 1902 to 1938.This presentation of the Chagga initiation lessons and Chagga texts with German translations was collected and refined over a twenty year period, and remains a work unequalled in the ethnological literature of Africa.
